Description

Why Go There? takes readers on unusual tours to nineteen very different countries -- from Easter Island's Rapa Nui festival to the military rooms that were carved out inside the Rock of Gibraltar; from Panama's mola-makers on a small San Blas island to conversations with the people in Newfoundland who welcomed the passengers stranded there during the 9/11 crisis.World traveler Carole J. Gariepy includes more than two hundred photos with her Why Go There? stories, helping readers feel like they are taking the journey too -- and hopefully, they too will gain understanding, acceptance, and caring for people of other cultures as Gariepy has from her travels.

Just finished reading Carole Gariepy’s latest book. I had enjoyed her previous travel book, “ Dragging Gerry around the World” so decided to read the sequel. I was not disappointed. I love reading about the author’s world travels and find humor in her stories about dragging her husband Gerry along. Carole and Gerry should be an inspiration to all of us to get out of our comfort zone and really experience this great world we live in!Their travels are not just to the regular tourist destinations and sights, they go way beyond and experience the cultures and people that make this world what it is. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has a love for travel or someone who is sitting home thinking that their adventure days are over. The author and her husband have proven over and over that adventures can and do happen at any age and we should never stop exploring, dreaming and discovering.
