The author gives the reader not only a narrative that engages the heart, but helps the reader understand some of the nuances surrounding the Holocaust. Unfortunately popular knowledge of that era seems to be limited. This is not only a shame, but dangerous. Accessing the details of the Holocaust is not hard, but it is painful. There are numerous first person accounts of that time, well written and worth reading, but the stories need to be told and retold time and again by succeeding generations. The author has done this and in a way that fully engages the heart.
